2025 Masters odds and best bets: Should you bet Scottie Scheffler, or the field?

Mostly Sunny

The 2025 Masters Tournament begins in a few weeks, with Scottie Scheffler as the odds favorite on the best sportsbooks to win his third green jacket in the past four years.

Can Scheffler place himself among the all-time greats and become just the ninth player ever to win at least three Masters Tournaments, or will someone in the field knock off the World No. 1 at Augusta?

Scottie Scheffler vs. The Field?

Many sports bettors and golf fanatics are wondering whether to bet on World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler or to find value elsewhere in the field.

Scheffler has dominated Augusta recently, securing two green jackets over the past three Masters Tournaments; however, he has not been as dominant to start this year as he was in 2024.

A slight regression was to be expected. After all, he had the first Tiger-like season that we have seen since Woods was in his prime.

Scheffler’s odds are a bit rich at +490, especially with Rory McIlroy playing at his current level and numerous other capable golfers in the field.

Therefore, we will be fading Scheffler at Augusta and seeking value elsewhere. Now, let’s cover some basics about Augusta and which kind of golfers typically have success there.

Augusta is a 7,510-yard, par 72 course with bentgrass greens. In 2022, tees on the 11th, 15th, and 18th holes were moved back, adding length to the course.

Big hitters have an even more significant advantage by making the course longer.

Since 2022, Scheffler has won twice, and Rahm has won once, indicating a trend that mirrors the course’s changes: big hitters dominate at Augusta.

2025 Masters best bets

Rory McIlroy (+600)

Rory is in excellent form right now after winning at The Players. McIlroy won twice before the end of April for the first time in his career. Further, big hitters off the tee have had success in recent years, with players like Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, and Scheffler securing green jackets.

Collin Morikawa (+1700)

Let’s just forget about Bay Hill. At 17-1 odds, Morikawa is still a terrific bet for a variety of reasons. First, Morikawa finished T3 at last year’s Masters Tournament and has three consecutive top-10 finishes at Augusta. Additionally, Morikawa currently ranks first on tour in shots gained tee-to-green, so if his putter is on, he will be nearly impossible to beat.

Ludvig Aberg (+1300)

Augusta is not for the faint of heart, and it often will eat less experienced golfers alive. That was not the case for Aberg in his first career Masters appearance last year, finishing second in 2024. Aberg also recently won The Genesis (February), so he has proven he can win in extremely talented fields.

2025 Masters betting long shots

The Masters can oftentimes be unpredictable, with huge odds underdogs having won several times over the past few decades.

Look no further than players like Trevor Immelman (150-1), Zach Johnson (125-1), Angel Cabrera (125-1), Charl Schwartzel (100-1), Hideki Matsuyama (60-1), and Danny Willett (50-1) who have all won in the past 20 years.
