Tiger Woods announced Monday morning he was withdrawing from the 2025 Genesis Invitational tournament at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

In a social media post, Woods wrote he tried to prepare himself to tee up but was not ready. On Feb. 4, he confirmed the death of his mother, Kultida Woods. She was 80 years old.

“I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss,” Woods wrote. “I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”

Woods was set to compete at the Genesis Invitational after it was relocated from the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades following the deadly Palisades Fire. Although the Riviera was not damaged it is located in the nearby community.

“While Riviera remains the home of the Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area,” Woods said.

The Genesis Invitational is the only non-major tournament Woods has played in since his car crash in February 2021 in LA.
